Terms

Use Surge as a coach, not as medical advice.

Last updated 30 August 2026.

Surge lets you create structured running workouts through an AI client and send them to Apple Watch via the iPhone app. By using the service you agree to these terms.

The product

An agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP host) is the primary way to create and schedule workouts. The iPhone app signs you in, shows upcoming sessions, and writes Apple’s WorkoutScheduler. Apple Watch runs Apple’s Workout app. We do not provide a custom watchOS workout UI.

Your account and agents

You are responsible for the account, for anyone you allow to sign in, and for every MCP client you authorize. An allowed client can create, change, and cancel workouts as you. Revoke access if you no longer trust that client.

Not medical or coaching advice

Surge compiles workouts and pace targets. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment, or a substitute for a qualified coach or clinician. You decide whether a session is appropriate. If you feel unwell, stop.

Apple Watch behaviour

Scheduling requires a paired Apple Watch, WorkoutKit permission, and opening the iPhone app. Apple’s list is a cache: about seven days either side of today, at most fifteen workouts. Apple may accept a schedule call and write nothing. Surge will show that failure; we cannot make the Watch show a workout Apple declined.

Routes

GPX files inform elevation-aware pace targets. The Watch does not navigate the route. You remain responsible for where you run and for traffic, terrain, and weather.

Availability

The service is an early product. We may change, pause, or stop it. Preview deployments and local instances may allow self-registration; production should not be an open sign-up without an operator.

Acceptable use

Do not probe other users’ data, overload the API, or use the MCP tools to store anything other than your own training. Workouts and GPX are private per account.

Liability

The service is provided as-is. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for missed workouts, Watch sync failures, pacing errors, or injury. If a term is unenforceable, the rest still apply.

Contact

Questions about these terms belong with the operator of the Surge instance you use. Publish an operator contact before offering the service beyond the team.
